There is no EZ Installer for this motherboard. I tried the one for the Hero X both with usb and iso via odd. Did not work. USB ports work fine in the bios but not at install or at the desktop if you do get it installed. Oh man, major bummer. Sorry to hear that. Hopefully someone will before long.

There are just too many benchmarks that Windows 10 loses at to have to live without Windows 7. I was originally planning to go the K route before I switched to X and X.

I am super glad I did not now. I would have been very upset about this. I use Windows 10 for the small sample of benchmarks where it is actually beneficial, but that is the only real use I have for it.

I wonder what would happen if you restore a Macrium Image of Windows 7. That actually worked for me on a Z Clevo laptop that I had modded for K. When the mod was first done I had a similar problem and that allowed me to use Windows 7 and everything work flawlessly while I was waiting for modded drivers.

I was able to do a clean install normally after I got the modded drivers. When my board gets here I will give this a go too, Menthol, assuming you have not cracked it by then.

Posted 21 July – AM. Long time Lurker here. Each step, no luck. I can start booting into windows, select windows repair or the windows CD. It goes past the first part. Then some sort of logo will appear and it will freeze. I have done a variety of troubleshooting and looking for suggestions. I have reset the bios to defaults for the latest round of testing. I have done a lot of troubleshooting and getting frustrated.

Is the Windows 7 installer just badly coded when it comes to installing drivers or is this not the correct driver for my hardware? Is it just impossible to install Windows 7 on a Z motherboard and am I better just downgrading to a Z instead?

Joined May 12, Messages 85, Windows 7 needs a 6th Generation or older Intel processor. That’s why you see listed drivers only for Windows 10 bit. You cannot install Windows 7 bit in that motherboard. Last edited: Jan 18, Windows 7 may possibly install in a computer that has a 7th generation Intel processor.

However, Microsoft may not allow that computer to install Windows 7 updates for it. This is Microsoft’s way of forcing people to move to Windows To my knowledge, Windows 7 will not even install in a computer that has an 8th or 9th generation Intel processor.

This is going to require a reasonably high level of skill. Even IF you were able to slipstream the nvme driver, win7 is not a supported operating system. In short, you are fighting a loosing battle.
